"Henceforth ye shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven
(Matthew 28.64).
Who is this that here is telling of that solemn day,
When He'll, on the clouds of heaven, come to have full sway?
When He shall set up His kingdom, and in justice reign;
When the brightness of His glory shines o'er hill and plain.
Who is this that strikes such terror, in men young and old,
When in majesty and power, Him their eyes behold ?
Him who was despised and hated, crowned with cruel thorn,
They now see in power and glory; then all tribes shall mourn.
Well may men be struck with terror, when His arm's made bare;
When He sendeth forth His angels, who His way prepare.
In perspective now we see them, parting tares from wheat;
Tares shall know eternal judgement, 'tis destruction meet.
From the four winds of the heaven, Christ, who did select,
Shall, by hosts of holy angels, gather His elect;
Those who stood the fiery trial, and the hate of men,
Shall, with songs of holy triumph, sing His praises then.
Shining as the sun in splendour, now the saints are seen;
What a wondrous transformation tears their lot had been!
By the world they had been hated, suffered cruel wrong,
They, from suff 'rings now delivered, join the glad new song.
On God's holy hill of Zion, see its rightful King,
While the nations rage with anger, pond'ring a vain thing
He who sits on high in heaven, at them then shall laugh,
And the wicked in the judgement, He'll consume as chaff.
Then the kingdom in its greatness, to the saints is giv'n,
When the righteous King is ruling, peace descends from heav'n.
When Christ shall His foes have vanquished, whether great or small,
Then to God He'll give the kingdom, Who'll be ALL IN ALL.
