Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

She was a quiet, godly sister who had immersed herself in the Scriptures. In conversation she would seek discussion on the most obscure portions of Ills Word. One favourite was: "And the hair of thine head like purple" (S. of S. 7:5), and what it typifled. She had spent years caring for her father until his homecall. Then she collapsed unexpectedly one Lord's day morning prior to the breaking of bread, and was rushed to hospital. The medical prognosis offered no hope. A late night visit found the hospital room in darkness. I sat close to her bedside

and quietly quoted: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me". Tc my surprise she opened her eyes and said: "My heart is not troubled". With quiet composure she closed her eyes and awaited her Beloved's homecall. It was not long in coming. It was her joy to be absent from the body and at home with the Lord.

Our times are in Thy hand.

O God we wish them there;

Our lives, our souls, our all, we

leave

Entirely to Thy care.
